After breakfast, we travel by bus through the Sacred Valley, once the agricultural heart of the Inca Empire. At the Salineras de Maras, admire thousands of shimmering salt pools still harvested using ancestral techniques. At Moray, we'll learn how the Incas engineered microclimates on these impressive terraces to experiment with and adapt crops. Our journey continues to Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns, where we soak in the atmosphere of ancient stone streets and towering ruins. From Ollantaytambo, we travel approximately three hours by bus to Huayopata, a lush region on the edge of the cloud forest. There, we'll enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation in a cozy lodge with a local family homestay—an authentic experience that brings us closer to Peruvian life.
