Tambopata-Puerto Maldonado:

Tambopata National Reserve

We arrive in Puerto Maldonado and quickly leave the city behind. A boat ride on the Madre de Dios River takes us straight into the rainforest — canopy overhead, riverbanks alive, and that feeling of being far from everything. From Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, the Amazon becomes hands-on: morning excursions by river, guided jungle walks, and canopy pathways that lift you above the forest floor. Between outings, you return to comfort — a place to slow down, reset, and take it all in. This is Tambopata up close — active, wild, and well-paced.

Day 1|Puerto Maldonado - Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica

Arrive in Puerto Maldonado and head straight to the river. A scenic boat ride along the Madre de Dios brings you to Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, where your cabin sits tucked into the rainforest. After a warm welcome and a quick orientation, settle in — hammock time, jungle sounds, and your first real pause in the Amazon. Later, join a guided walk on forest trails to start reading the landscape: towering trees, birds overhead, and movement in the canopy. At dusk, we head back out on the river. As daylight fades, the jungle changes — quieter, closer — with chances to spot nocturnal life along the banks before returning to the lodge.
